Ilan Eshkeri is a composer whose work explores emotional narrative through evolving musical forms. Working within a post-minimal aesthetic, he builds compositions from repeating melodic ideas that gradually transform through harmonic layering and rhythmic variation, allowing emotional meaning to emerge naturally. His musical language reflects a background spanning contrasting traditions as a classically trained violinist and self-taught electric guitarist. Eshkeri’s synaesthesia informs a close relationship between sound and colour within his work. Eshkeri has developed a body of work across live concert performance, theatre, ballet, film, television, and video games. His live works have been presented at venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Sadler’s Wells, the Tuileries Gardens of the Louvre, and New York City Center. His work in film, television, and interactive media includes scores for Layer Cake, Stardust, Coriolanus, and The Sims 4. Eshkeri’s work has received major international recognition, including Emmy, BAFTA, and Ivor Novello Award nominations.
