Christiana Figueres is an internationally recognized leader on climate change and sustainable development. She served as Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) from 2010 to 2016, where she brought together governments, businesses, scientists, civil society organizations and financial institutions to achieve the historic Paris Agreement in 2015. This landmark accord united 195 countries around a common goal of limiting global warming and protecting the most vulnerable communities worldwide.
Following her tenure at the UN, Figueres has continued to champion climate action through advocacy, leadership and public engagement. She is the co-founder of Global Optimism, co-host of the acclaimed podcast Outrage & Optimism, and co-author of the bestselling book The Future We Choose: Surviving the Climate Crisis. Throughout her career, she has received numerous international awards and honorary degrees in recognition of her contributions to global climate diplomacy and collaborative leadership.
