Prof. Eva Villaver is a distinguished astrophysicist renowned for her groundbreaking research on the evolution of planetary systems around dying stars and her unwavering dedication to science outreach. Currently Deputy Director at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias, she has made astronomy accessible to broad audiences through her popular science book Las mil caras de la Luna, a weekly astronomy column in El País, and the curation of acclaimed space-themed exhibitions such as After the Moon and Aliens. A former European Space Agency staff member at the Space Telescope Science Institute (2003–2009), Villaver was also a professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2009–2021) and a staff member of the Centro de Astrobiología. As Director of the Office of Space and Society at the Spanish Space Agency (2023–2024), she spearheaded initiatives to foster public engagement with space exploration. Through popular talks, lectures, articles, media collaborations, and appearances in documentaries and films, she continues to ignite curiosity about the cosmos while pushing the boundaries of astrophysical research.
